Commissions of Saint Mary's Parish

Parish Council

The parish council provides consultation to the pastor or pastoral administrator through recommendations founded in the parish mission statement and vision fostering pastoral activity.  The council does not serve as a board of directors or a legislative body.  Council membership is a ministry, a response to the Lord's call for the sake of others not oneself or one's personal point of view.

Administration Commission

The administration commission advocates sound management practices and is responsible for resource development, budget preparation and review, overall fiscal accountability, buildings and grounds, etc.  It is a standing committee of the parish council and is responsible for advising and assisting the pastor or pastoral administrator in the administration of the parish's material resources.

Christian Service Commission

The Christian Service commission, a standing committee of the Parish Council, assists the pastor or pastoral administrator in developing, promoting, coordinating and evaluating parish activities which serve the spiritual, social and material needs of persons within and beyond the parish. Based on the recognition that all baptized persons are called to service, it promotes social justice and peace.

Education Formation Commission

As a standing committee of the parish council, the education formation commission is advisory and consultative to the pastor or pastoral administrator and director of faith formation in matters pertaining to religious education/formation for all ages, sacramental preparation, youth and family ministry.  Responsibilities include research and planning, assistance in formation of programs and service.

Liturgy Commission

The parish liturgy commission serves as a standing commission of the parish council.  This commission is consultative and advisory to the pastor or pastoral administrator in matters pertaining to the liturgical life of the parish.

Stewardship Committee

Under the guidance of the parish council, the stewardship committee promotes stewardship in the parish community.  The committee invites parishioners to share their time, talent and treasure in gratitude to God.
